JOS INU

(English translation : Abhishek sreekumar)

Back in 2009 when the invisible and unknown Satoshi Nakamoto had his humble beginning by launching Bitcoin – the world’s first cryptocurrency, Jose was a class 10th student at the Pallikoodam school in Kottayam.

While Nakamoto rose to fame over the next couple of years with a worldwide acceptance for Bitcoin and remained camouflaged even to the eyes of all the powerful agencies in the world, Jose, who only completed his school life then was mostly unaware of how Satoshi was going to change his life forever.

Figuring out that being a doctor or an engineer is not the only path to success from his Alma mater, Jose chose to pursue Economics, his favourite subject at college. Nakomoto’s bitcoin was only shy of few cents to reach 15 dollars by then (approx. 700 INR)

Jose was already in the final year of his graduation before he heard the terms Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. The word crypto sounded like something that is associated with an illegal activity to his naive mind and barely gave it any attention. However that dint stop bitcoin from reaching closer to a thousand dollars. The smartest minds around the world who identified the future in Bitcoin had already begun mining and earning bitcoins following Nakomoto’s protocol by then. Jose was neither able to digest the idea that Bitcoin can be the currency of the future nor identify the reason for Satoshi to remain camouflaged.

By the time Jose graduated there were nearly over a hundred alternate cryptocurrencies in the market. Jose invested twenty thousand rupees from his first salary to buy 20 coins of the fairly new Ethereum as a starter. Though he was branded insane by his friends and family, Jose’s intuitions weren’t in vain and in the next 6 months, the twenty coins he owned were worth 3,50,000 in INR, enough money to own a bitcoin then. He had little to think before converting his 20 coins into owning his first bitcoin.

It took only a year from then for that single bitcoin to be worth over twenty lakhs in INR. Jose was also systematically investing a part of his salary on many of the other alt-coins that he found promising.
The value of his portfolio topping over fifty lakhs gave Jose the courage to resign from his current job at the age of 23. Jose remained humble even at the height of this success.

The so called smarty-pants in his circle had already started mocking him as ‘Crypto Jose’ which was a major hurdle in his search for a better half. Even when Jose was ambitious about launching his own version of cryptocurrency named ‘JOS INU’ all the potential matches confirmed he was insane when they heard his plans. It was then that Jose decided to give a brief pause to his attempt in searching for a bride and began to be more involved in the crypto-verse. Could Satoshi be a corporate giant or an individual itself? Jose often used to wonder and ask himself. Jose had slowly began longing to enjoy the thrill that being anonymous can provide.

However the crypto ride was not the smoothest for anyone who embarked the journey. It was bumpy and at times scarier than any worst nightmare. On one such incidental period, Jose’s fifty lakhs tumbled down to just ten lakhs in a day and before long, it reduced to just five lakhs. Nonetheless, Jose was not disheartened. He applied for and started a new job within a month.

While Jose continued his job over the next couple of years, his crypto assets remained mostly dull in the clutches of a massive bear market. Howbeit, Jose remained patient and calm and held on to his dear coins and continued his systematic investment in crypto.

It was 2019 before the crypto-market woke up again. His thirty lakhs worth investment shot up to eighty lakhs in a day and reached one crore the third day. The crypto bull dint stop the climb and reached a whopping nine crores in sixth months. Days passed and Jose resigned from the job again and resumed his search for bride as well. He was successful this time. Jose got married to Annie who already had a bit of an awareness about bitcoin. Within a month after getting married, Jose’s worth topped over ten crores.

Even at the heights of success, Jose was always inquisitive about Satoshi deep inside. Even if Satoshi only owned one percent of the world’s available bitcoin, he would be the richest in the world. Thinking the world’s richest in still invisible made Jose exhilarated.

Annie was by Jose’s side throughout his journey and he always paid good attention to her suggestions. She had suggested Jose to invest some money in assets that’s not highly volatile like crypto and he listened to it diligently. He withdrew all his twelve crore rupees invested in crypto and bought a very nice house and a shopping complex in town that would fetch him a rent of eight lakh rupees a month. Jose became a well-known and celebrated figure in his town.

Jose also occupied a small portion in his complex to build his financial venture that rolled out a systematic investment scheme to the investors promising a whopping 21 percent interest returns which was unparalleled in terms of competition. Within a year of advent, the investments were worth over one crore rupees and Jose invested all of it in crypto itself. The investors always received their dividends on time and the whole town was in praise and awe of Jose – who still remained humble and wasn’t overjoyed because he was still disturbed by the beauty of being ‘anonymous’.

He was also very diligent towards his development of the ‘JOS INU’ protocol. By 2021, Jose’s crypto assets touched 168 crores in net worth. Even after giving back to the investors, Jose’s profit was still over 150 crores. All this demanded a lot from Jose though. His lifestyle was totally different to any other person of his circle. In the crypto world where transactions happen around 24 hours, Jose’s only dose of sleep was the power naps he used to take. Even Annie had adjusted to this lifestyle of Jose by then.

By the time his assets were worth around 250 crores, Jose was finally ready to launch ‘JOS INU’ protocol. It was on an eventful night around then that Jose decided it was time for his next big move. He was aware of how massive amounts of energy are needed to complete transactions and the impact on environment by it. All he did was tweet Elon Musk with his findings. For the first time, Jose felt that he was talking to Satoshi itself. After he was sure he stirred the pot enough he also decided to sell all his crypto the same night. It was not too long before Elon Musk announced that Tesla cars won’t be accepting bitcoins anymore as a mode of payment, Jose would be the only one who had a smile in the crypto land that day.
The crypto world went for a nose dive shortly thereafter. Had Jose been holding his crypto, his 250 crores would have been chopped to just forty crores in two days.

The investor in Jose was up again and he invested forty crores again in the crypto market at its weakest point. While he patiently holds for the next bull run, he has plans for his remaining 200 crores which includes a hill top theme park, a five start hotel in the city and a medical college in the suburbs.

Jose was not done yet as he tells Annie what he plans to do with the remaining 10 crores.

“A world tour for two years hopping from one country to another. A fun trip by the time all his major plans take to be constructed. He wants Annie to conceive at the final country of their trip and they reach back for the delivery of their baby in their own medical college.” Annie had the same awe at Jose’s plans like she had when she met him for the first time.

Before the trip Jose uploaded the whitepaper of the ‘JOS INU’ protocol. The first crypto-currency from a Kottayam native.

Before boarding his flight to Dubai with Annie, he remembered Satoshi with gratitude for a moment. He felt a great sense of connection with the still anonymous Satoshi.

As the flight took off – Jose felt himself getting closer towards being anonymous …..
